What's going on guys welcome to the daily udemy income report the show where I talk about making money on udemy walk you through what's working for me and teach you how to do the same thing my name is John Elder from Courserapy.com and today is Friday January 18 2019 in today's episode I'm going to talk about free video editing software that you can use to help make your course but before we do that let's look at yesterday's stats so we have 17 Thursday 12 courses sold not a very very good day especially compared to the day before 55 dollars and six cents and that came to four dollars and 59 cents per course which is not great refunds to date that should be 60 dollars and 13 cents changed that I had one extra refund yesterday so we're still massively on track for our refunds for the month that's sort of normal and nine reviews we'll take a look at those in just a second so a month
to date that comes to thirteen hundred and eighty six dollars and 36 cents three hundred sixty-eight courses sold not too bad 143 reviews promotional activity popped up 213 one more person clicked on the promo email that I sent out a before yesterday I guess so that's pretty cool and then total enrollments hundred twelve thousand seven hundred fifty two and our average rating is still at four point five two so my page here are new to me you know me calm four slash user four slash John elder three we have forty five thousand nine hundred and two students thirty-seven courses and two thousand four hundred ninety to read reviews we saw this bestseller badge on the Postgres course which is nice to see but the two courses down here this one and this one that had the highest rated badges continue to not have the highest rated badges so but about a week we'll keep an eye on those
one last thing to look at second last thing those videos that I talked about a few days ago still have not been taken down from YouTube so later on today I'm gonna file my own takedown request with YouTube themselves I'll keep an eye on this also probably send an email over to support and say what the craps going on you know why why work what wasn't your won't your service take it down like they're supposed to it always has in the past maybe there's something something wrong there okay so very quickly reviews from yesterday a four and a half star four stars five stars five star stars I found the course informative and was able to use the content straightaway because I was able to use sequel following the course awesome five stars five stars great pace and utilization of the sequel workbench for a visual of the output cool five stars four and a half stars the shamp tutorial was
excellent it's meant I've already fixed some of the issues I've been having awesome and finally four stars from Conrad so pretty good reviews and pretty happy about all that so it's Friday we expect sales to be down you know we're ending a sale a major sale I'm not doing any more promo work the email I sent out a few days ago has already gone out everybody that's gonna order from it has by now so it's pretty much dead in the water so you know we'll just sort of see what's going on throughout the day so in this video I want to spend a few minutes talking about some free video editing software that you can use to create your courses now you have to make the video first so you need some sort of screen capture software or you know a camera shooting your head somehow or some sort of thing to create the actual video but once you have created it then you need to edit it there's lots
of editing that always needs to be done you know you stutter over words you want to cut that out the phone rings in the background you want to edit that out you know there's always stuff that you need to edit and so editing software is very important now that's one of those things that people just don't want to spend a lot of money on especially if you're just getting started you don't have a whole lot of money so a lot of people use something called Camtasia which is a screen capture software and an editing software in one but it's very very expensive if you're just getting started well let's just go look real quick I'm not even sure what its selling for these days tasia just number one screen recording software products I'm Teja screen recorder how much $249 this cost so that's a big hit if you're starting out right and you need it for the screen capture but you don't
really and we'll talk about that in the future I've got a great free screencasting software that I'll tell you about that I use personally I'm using it right now completely free much better than Camtasia which costs $250 but you still need some sort of software to edit your video a lot of people edit using Adobe products I have Premiere Pro which is a studio quality video editing suite but I don't generally edit my videos there I use it for other things like adding effects and color grading and things like that but for actually editing snipping apart my video you know taking out that phone call it disrupted things things like that well personally I use Camtasia because I have a copy I bought it 10 years ago and I've been using it ever since I'm just used to using it as a video editor I don't use it for the screencast but I use it for the editing part but like I said it's $250
today if you want to buy it so alright instead I'm gonna recommend this open shot video editor and it's an open shot org and see if I can pull it up real quick it's a really simple software you see a picture of it right here and this is all it is so here it is you can just import your file that you want to edit whatever that is I'll just pull in something here from like yesterday's video so here it is you just drag it down to the timeline right boom if you want to you can separate the audio I always do that you - let's see display show the waveform of the audio and then you can just well it's doing its thing you could just edit your video and then when you're done you just come up here to this guy export video and you can click it and it will render your video into a file that you can then upload to you to me or YouTube or whatever so this is great if you're just getting started
right this is still doing this thing my computer's running real slow this morning I think I'm probably about ready for a restart I will just wait for a second till this does its thing it's still taking a while but we can drag this thing around and this all you do you just drag this around well you might press play and then and as you go along you can you know click on here if you want to cut out things you can click the slice and you can see it'll kind of slice in it and then you just move forward to the next spot where you want to resume and then you click slice again you keep both sides and then you would you know I like this little guy and delete him Oh No want to delete just this and then you just drag this over oh and that's you know generally how you do it you just go through your whole video doing that you would want to do the same thing down here for the audio but anyway you
